Payment and Refund Policy

The Newmarket Skating Club accepts payment by cash, cheque or credit card and at its discretion may require payment in full in cash. There is a $25.00 fee for NSF cheques or non-approved credit card payments. All prices and purchase invoices are in Canadian dollars ($CDN).

Any member whose account is past due will be notified in writing.  If the outstanding fees are not paid in thirty days you will be deemed a member “not in good standing” and lose all privileges of membership including but not limited to the right to skate on sessions, to compete and to try tests.

All requests for refunds/early withdrawal must be submitted in writing to the Newmarket Skating Club office, or emailed to office@newmarketskatingclub.com.

For the Fall/Winter season, requests for early withdrawal must be made by December 1st.  A $25 early withdrawal administration fee is charged, as well as the prorated amount for the skating sessions that have occurred as of the date of the withdrawal request.  The remainder of the registration fee is refunded.

For the Spring season, the deadline for requests for withdrawal is April 15th in a non-Carnival year, and May 1st in a Carnival year.  A $15 early withdrawal administration fee is charged, as well as the prorated amount for the skating sessions that have occurred as of the date of the withdrawal request.

All Skate Canada fees are final and are NOT subject to refund or credit. No refunds or credits are provided for missed sessions. Make-up ice for hours missed on a skater’s scheduled day will NOT be granted. There is a $10 admin fee to switch sessions once the program has started, and there is a $5 fee to replace lost name badges.

Skaters who are unable to skate due to an injury or medical reason, but who do not wish to withdraw, may request a refund or credit for skating sessions missed.  The Club may request an official Doctor’s Certificate from the skater.  No administrative fee will be charged.

The Club is NOT obligated to refund registration fees for unforeseen ice closures due to special events/circumstances, or equipment/mechanical breakdown beyond our control. The Club will make every effort to make up for cancelled sessions.

Once a refund is granted, a cheque will be issued and mailed to the skater or if original payment was by credit card then a refund can be issued to the card if preferred.  When a credit is granted, the skater will receive official notice via email from the Club and a credit will be placed on the skater’s account for future use. Skaters are expected to retain a copy of this email as proof that a credit was issued.
